Meet the Artist

Aloha!My name is Suba and I live in Honolulu, Hawaii.
I am Native Hawaiian, Japanese, Chinese, and Portugese.
I have a BAS in Sustainable Community Food Systems
and a Certificate in Plant Bioscience Technology.
I can speak, read, and write at intermediate level Japanese.

Why "SubaOng"?

When I was a freshman in High School, I was obsessed with Vocaloid and I was extremely impressed by Nico Nico Chorus covers of Vocaloid songs.My alias was born from my limited Japanese vocabulary.
With "subarashii" meaning "wonderful" and "ongaku" meaning "music,"
my singing alias was SubarashiiOngaku.
Fourteen-year-old Suba thought she was clever.I participated in group cover projects and organized some myself, as a singer, artist, mixer and animator.Over time, I realized I wasn't too great at singing and transfered over to the drawing community. Since it didn't make sense to have "wonderful music" for a name as a creator that didn't make music, I shortened it to "SubaOng."

Sustainability

Launching for the first time in March 2022, SubaOng Studios will utilize the last of their non-recyclable packaging supplies. And as business grows, we will gradually transition to using affordable, biodegradable alternatives for packaging our products.In the future, I plan to use kraft rigid mailers, kraft paper bags, recycled paper envelopes, and recycled paper business cards. I would like to work with a manufacturer that produces stickers with recycled paper and keychains or pins with recycled or sustainably-sourced wood. I would also like to use biodegradable bubble mailers if my future products require it.

Terms of Service

General Terms of Service

All commissions are priced as personal use on my commission menu.
The price of commercial use is three times the price of personal use.
Any intention of mass producing my art for profit must be expressed to me in the order form and will be priced as commercial.You are not allowed to NFT my work.You may post my art on social media with credit ONLY IF
you have commissioned me for that specific piece of art.I have the right to use your finished commission as an example
in my commission menu and service advertisements on my website and social media.I have the right to decline a commission request if I am unable to complete your request with my current abilities or if I am uncomfortable with the request.

Payment

Payment for commissions will only be accepted through Paypal in USD.I will send you an invoice through the Paypal email you provide in the order form.You can pay your total through the invoice.Please do NOT pay me through "Friends and Family" on Paypal.I will NOT start your commission until I am paid in full.

Commission Waitlist and Progress

You can view my commission waitlist and the progress of your commission on my Trello.
I will complete commissions in order of payment received.
I do not offer rush or skip fee options. Please order your commission ahead of time according to the "estimated completion time" list under Frequently Asked Questions #2.

Frequently Asked Questions

#1) How do I order a commission?

1. Complete the order form on the bottom of the Commissions page.
2. Email the completed order form to [email protected]
3. I will calculate the total based on your request and send you a Paypal invoice.
4. You pay the total through the invoice and I will start working on your commission.
5. I will contact you if I have any questions regarding your character design and will send progress images upon request.
6. Please request alterations only during the sketching process.
7. I will send the completed commission to your email in a Google Drive file to preserve image quality.
8. Alterations will not be made once commission is completed.

#2) How long will it take to finish my commission?

The completion time depends on the difficulty of
character design and commission style that is being ordered.The estimated finish times for each commission style are as follows:
Emote - 1 - 2 weeks each
Crayon Chibi - 1 - 2 weeks each
Bust - 1 - 2 weeks each
Animated Bust - 3 - 5 weeks each
Thigh Up - 2 - 3 weeks each
Full Body - 2 - 3 weeks each

#3) Can I get a refund on my commission?

Before commissioning me, you are expected to have looked through my examples and read my Terms of Service.
I will not provide full refunds after I finish the sketch process because I have already put time and effort into the commission.

Commission Process in relation to Refund Amount:
Before Sketch - 100% refund
Detailed Sketch - 25% refund
Starting Line Art - 0% refund
Coloring - 0% refund

#4) What programs and tools do you use?

I primarily draw in Procreate on my 10.5-inch iPad Pro with a paper-like screen protector.
I occasionally draw in Clip Studio Paint EX on my desktop computer.
My desktop tablet is a Wacom Intuos Pro Medium.
My detailed animations are drawn in Clip Studio Paint and my simple animations are drawn in FlipaClip.
